Alison Prince

Award winning British author. Born in 1931. After studying and teaching art for a number of years, Ms. Prince turned to writing. A short story she penned featured on TV and her career, first as a writer for children's comics, then as a novelist, soon took off. She has written both adult and children's fiction, winning a number of awards for her work including the 1996 Guardian Fiction Award.

Many of her children's books are animal stories. One of these features a horse, a humourous tale about a group of kids trying to stable a rescued horse in their high rise flat. Her series of stories about Joe, a character featuring on the 1960s  television show,
Watch With Mother also include a horse-related tale.

Joe and a Horse is extremely rare, as indeed are most of the other 'Joe ' books. The Tower Block Pony was a paperback original. It is reasonably easy to find in the UK
